The Jamacha Landfill micro turbine installation project has achieved several milestones in the field of alternative power generation. The project represents the first-ever commercial landfill-gas-fired micro turbine installation to secure approval from the California Public Utility Commission to interconnect to an investor-owned utility. It has generated the most kilowatt hours of power of any landfill gas-fired micro turbine installation. It also boasts the longest “run time” of any project of its kind. The California Energy Commission provided a $75,000 grant to assist in financing the project.
